GIRLS BLUE TEAM FALLS TO BIGGER LCDS TEAM

On Thursday, girls varsity basketball played LCDS at LCDS’s new campus. Powhatan was at a slight disadvantage because almost every player on LCDS’s team was very tall. LCDS got off to a quick start scoring 22 points in the first half. Powhatan scored only 11 points. The chiefs played a stronger game in the second half. We moved to a full court press, which helped stop them from running the ball up the court and scoring. Powhatan kept LCDS to only 18 points in the second half and we added 16 points. The final score was 40-27. Georgie Wilkins had a fantastic game scoring 10 points. Tess Ashby and Delaney Taylor scored 8 and 7 points each and had awesome games as well. Annie McIntosh scored 2 points. Powhatan will be ready to play another good game against them when we host them on February 4. Good job Powhatan!       -Leland Damron
